Dear Fellow Gardeners
Last Saturday we secured our three garden plots in the new Albany community garden, (the three best and sunniest ones all together nonetheless!) When you walk into the garden from the school side, the combination on the lock is 14-36-14. The combination on the park side is 36-14-36. Our access is 24 hours.
If you enter from the school side, our plots are on the right, not the first one, but the second two. Our first one is a double plot and our second one is a single plot, nearest to the bench. Alisa and I have already weeded, turned and planted in the last plot. The double plot is still empty and unworked. The soil seems decent, though I found quite a bit of odd debris, many bits of weird plastic and broken glass, some cement chunks and a large rusty bolt. Sounds like a construction site, but it has good color and some worms!
Our next garden meeting is a potluck in May. Our public hours are going to be every Sat and Sun from 11-2, and someone from the garden must be present. Griffin’s mom Jennifer, (anyone know her email?) is organizing a yahoo group for the whole group to manage business.
If all 8 families are still interested in sharing these plots, I will try to get back one more plot for our group. Why did we give all those away? There may be one available. I hope everyone has enough room to share in the dirty fun. We should also split up the annual costs of the plots between us.
Happy Gardening!
Sheri
